Julia Cook’s Be Where Your Feet Are is a wonderful story for teaching students about the importance of being present. This set of companion activities is great for students to continue understanding this concept, practicing how to be present, and becoming more self-aware of their own mindfulness (or mind full-ness!). There are a wide variety of activities included allowing you to pick what’s best for your group(s) or for extending the lesson over multiple days. This resource was created to be used by school counselors or classroom teachers.
Resource includes:
• Complete ASCA and CASEL aligned lesson plan including discussion questions and think alouds for while you read
• Physical activity opener
• Discussion question and mindful practice task cards (for whole group or small group use)
• Mindful Thoughts or Not (students identify which thoughts in four given scenarios are mindful, both as printable PDF and PPT slides)
• Visual reminder (mini-poster)
• Exit ticket
This resource is a set of companion activities to go along with the story “Be Where Your Feet Are” by Julia Cook. The book is not included in this resource and needs to be purchased separately.

What others are saying...

“What a wonderful way to introduce mindfulness to kids!”

“Love the thought bubble examples– it is hard to conceptualize mindfulness to students sometimes because it is so abstract but this was a good way for them to practice understanding and applying it.”

“This is a great “print and run” lesson. My kids had a great discussion with the discussion cards.”
