Want to help your kindergarteners and first graders learn about feeling happy, excited, and proud? This resource is a developmentally appropriate set of “comfortable” feelings activities to help them identify when they feel happiness, excitement, and pride. Why is this important? 1) Positive psychology tells us we should give lots of attention to our more positive/comfortable feelings and 2) understanding pride encourages children to do their best in order to have that feeling more.
It’s research-based social-emotional learning created specifically with primary students in mind!
Use these activities in one longer happy feelings lesson, one or two shorter lessons, or spread out in shorter bursts for a weeklong skills focus using the included pacing guide. Designed for teachers delivering SEL in their classrooms or school counselors teaching guidance lessons.
It is ASCA-aligned and CASEL-aligned! While created to use for whole group lessons, it is also wonderful for tier 2/small group counseling or social skills intervention.
