Description

Self-talk is one of the most important social emotional learning skills we can teach our students. We can coach ourselves to feel better and do better through positive self-talk. This self-talk lesson teaches students what self-talk is, how powerful it can be, and gives lots of opportunities for practicing and applying it. It’s great for whole class lessons or as a small group self-talk activities!

Includes:

  • Slideshow introducing self-talk
  • Puzzles (easy cut, low prep!) for students to practice identifying examples of positive self-talk given different situations
  • Scenario visuals for role plays or small group rotations so students can apply what they’ve learned
  • Exit ticket for self-reflection

What others are saying...

“This is a must have resource! I highly recommend it. The only prep I needed to do was make copies of the worksheet to practice/ check for understanding. The powerpoint is thorough and easy for the kids to understand, but still leaves room for you to improvise and add your own personal touch. I used the powerpoint and worksheet in 30 minute lessons with all of my third grade classes so far . There are enough extension activities to adapt it to the older grades too. I probably will use it with the older kids as well as small groups and individuals. My kiddos LOVED the four corners game and I loved that it got them up and moving.”

“What a novel idea for a lesson! My third graders enjoyed it and I will use it as one of my regular lessons each year. We liked the concentration matching game, which incorporates movement/engagement and maintained their attention. Thanks!!”
