Using Kind Words Lesson and Activities

Want to help your kindergarteners and first graders learn how to use kind words vs. hurtful words? This resource is a developmentally appropriate set of activities to help them: understand the power of their words, identify kind vs. hurtful words, and practice using kind words in different scenarios. It’s research-based social-emotional learning created specifically with primary students in mind.

Use these activities in one longer kind vs. hurtful words lesson, one or two shorter lessons, or spread out in shorter bursts for a weeklong skills focus using the included pacing guide. Designed for teachers delivering SEL in their classrooms or school counselors teaching guidance lessons.

It is ASCA-aligned and CASEL-aligned! While created to use for whole group lessons, it is also wonderful for tier 2/small group counseling or social skills intervention.
