Description

My students all want to spend their time wisely but most of them simply don’t know what that really looks like. With this activity, students work in pairs or small groups to sort 24 different “activities” – (ways students spend their time in class) into three categories: “Using Your Time Wisely”, “Depends”, and “Wasting Your Time”. I’ve also included a scoot sheet if you want to complete the activity whole group and with more movement.

Once sorted, we discuss the consequences of good vs. bad time management and then students complete a short personal reflection on their own time management habits (also included).

What others are saying...

“This was a very helpful resource. My students enjoyed the sorting activity and it was neat to see them start processing that a lot of the things that they are doing are not always a waste of time, or a good use of time. Many of the activities are situational dependent. “

“This is great tool to teach time management. The students were engaged and thoughtful while we did the sorting activity.”

“As a practicum student I found this activity to be a great resource to use with my 5th grade students in an academic skills group! It helped them think about and become more aware of how they are spending their time.”
